Nestled in the heart of the Rhondda Valleys, The Ebenezer Chapel – part of the Ebenezer Arts and Heritage Project – holds a rich history and is now blossoming into a creative sanctuary for artists, healers, and the local community.  The chapel itself is one of many beautiful but unused buildings scattered across the valleys, now finding new purpose. This space has become a hub for local artists and community groups, offering workshops and activities that honor its heritage while infusing it with fresh energy.

When I use the chapel’s school rooms for sound healing, the resonance is profound. The acoustics of these historic spaces allow the healing vibrations of gongs, singing bowls, and other sacred instruments to reverberate in ways that deepen our collective experience. Every sound journey we embark on here feels enriched by the chapel’s history, creating a truly special atmosphere for healing and transformation. 

Resident Artist: Nick Bailey of Resit Designs

At the heart of The Ebenezer Chapel is the incredible multidisciplinary artist and arts and wellbeing practitioner, Nick Bailey of Resit Designs. Nick’s work is a dynamic fusion of psychedelic art, painting, textiles, wood, metalwork, and more. His creative approach is not only visually stunning but deeply transformative, reflecting a deep connection to both artistic exploration and wellbeing. Nick's work is also focused on sustainable or reused materials.

In addition to his work at The Ebenezer Chapel, Nick is a set designer for a Boomtown Fair mini venue. This year, he designed and built the Amen4Tekno: Lawless Halls of Justice mini-venue, bringing his unique vision and multidisciplinary talents to the immersive, high-energy world of Boomtown Fair. A judges bench housing DJs and a sound system was nothing short of banging!!

Nick uses his artistic skills to create immersive environments and experiences that expand perception and invite introspection. His work is displayed throughout the chapel, adding layers of texture and energy to the space. But Nick's talents go far beyond visual art – he is also a talented musician who collaborates with me during our sound journeys. Together, we layer soundscapes that blend the tones of ancient instruments taking participants on a deeply healing sonic adventure. Nick’s presence at The Ebenezer Chapel brings a rich synergy to the space, making every workshop and event an immersive experience of art, sound, and healing.

I’m also deeply grateful to Nick for his incredible work in designing and crafting the custom gong stand I use for my 1:1 sound healing sessions at home. This beautiful piece is a true work of art. Nick’s keen eye for detail, along with his mastery of wood and metal, resulted in a stand that perfectly complements the space. The gong stand adds a unique and elevated vibe, allowing the sounds to resonate freely and creating a sacred atmosphere for my clients. Every session is enhanced by the care and craftsmanship Nick poured into this piece, making it a vital part of my practice.

During this session, I use a variety of sound healing instruments—crystal bowls, gongs, tuning forks, and more—to create a meditative soundscape. As the resonant frequencies gently guide participants into a state of relaxation and heightened awareness, Nick provides a creative space for them to express the emotions and insights that arise through painting and drawing. No artistic experience is needed—this journey is about tapping into your intuition and allowing your inner self to emerge through art.
