Sonic Bodywork
When sound becomes physical.
Most of us think of sound as something we hear. Sonic Bodywork invites you to feel it. A deeply immersive 1:1 experience combining sound, vibration, touch and bodywork. Singing bowls, therapeutic tuning forks and other instruments are used on and around the clothed body, alongside massage, assisted stretching, movement and stillness. There is no fixed routine. Each session is shaped around you, your body and what feels right on the day.
Why Sonic Bodywork?
People come for all sorts of reasons. You might be feeling physically tense or uncomfortable, mentally overloaded, disconnected from your body, exhausted, stressed or simply in need of somewhere to properly stop.
Sonic Bodywork may support:
-
deep relaxation and rest
-
greater body awareness and connection
-
easing feelings of physical tension
-
slowing down a busy mind
-
gentle movement and stretching
-
experiencing sound as a grounding sensory focus
-
creating intentional time to stop and reconnect
-
Some people come because they already love massage or Sound Journeys and want to experience something that brings the two worlds together. Others are simply curious. You don't need a reason beyond wanting to experience it.
Sound you can feel
During a Sound Journey, vibration travels through the space around you. With Sonic Bodywork, that vibration can be brought directly into contact with the body. A singing bowl might be placed on the clothed body and played, allowing you to physically feel its vibration as well as hear it. Therapeutic tuning forks can create smaller, more focused sensations of vibration. These may be woven together with massage, assisted stretching, gentle movement and periods of complete stillness.
Sometimes the work is subtle.
Sometimes it's more physical.
Sometimes what your body seems to want most is simply rest.
Working with your body, not against it
I also work with people living with fibromyalgia, persistent pain, fatigue and heightened physical sensitivity. These sessions aren't intended to treat or cure fibromyalgia or another medical condition. Instead, the work can be adapted around the person living in that body.
That might mean lighter touch, less pressure, different positioning, avoiding particular areas, more rest, or choosing sound and vibration without hands-on bodywork. There is never an expectation that something needs to hurt in order to be beneficial. Comfort, communication and consent come first.
What might I experience?
Everyone responds differently. You might notice warmth, tingling, heaviness, vibration travelling beyond where an instrument is placed, changes in your breathing or a growing awareness of different areas of your body. You might become deeply relaxed. You might drift somewhere between listening and sleep.
You might experience emotion.
Or you might simply think:
That feels really bloody nice.
There doesn't have to be a profound experience or emotional release.
There is nothing you're supposed to achieve.
Your session
We'll begin with a conversation about how you're feeling, anything relevant I should know and what you're comfortable with.
Your session may then include:
Singing bowls on and around the body · Therapeutic tuning forks · Immersive sound · Massage · Assisted stretching · Gentle movement · Body awareness · Stillness
You can decline any element, change your mind or ask me to adjust something at any point. My approach brings together my training as a Sacred Sound Healing Practitioner and Ayurvedic Yoga Massage therapist, alongside many years of working closely with people.
Come and experience sound differently.
You don't need to understand frequencies or know anything about sound healing. You don't need to believe that an instrument is going to fix something inside you. Just come as you are.
Listen. Feel. Notice.
And experience what happens when sound isn't only something happening around you it's something you can physically feel.
